After sustaining a concussion while skiing, Wilder was forced into his mind where he confronted, with turmoil and love, the parts of himself he had long buried. What began as fearful resistance evolved into curiosity and compassion: these are the gifts with which he writes. Wilder is fond of romanticizing his humanness, harnessing muses of music, nature, spirit, athleticism, and connection to arouse the ever-expanding mind. He wonders at the world with honesty, sharing the perspective of a transgender man, an academic, and a deep lover.
