Susan Smith

Susan Smith, photographer

Susan Smith merges her storytelling instincts as a former Globe and Mail editor with her passion for visual narratives through photography. After years of helping shape Canada's national discourse in journalism, she turned her observant eye to creative pursuits, exploring deeper human truths through both imagery and prose. A graduate of the University of Toronto's School of Continuing Studies' Creative Writing program, Smith's literary work has appeared in The New Quarterly and NonBinary Review. Her photography represents the natural evolution of her lifelong commitment to capturing and sharing stories that matter.

Respite Volume 9, Issue 3

In her photo essay Respite, veteran journalist Susan Smith turns her seasoned editorial eye to nature photography. Through her lens, she weaves visual narratives that remind us of nature’s power to provide solace and inspiration in an increasingly developed world.
