Blank Spaces Welcomes Joanne Morrison as Guest Fiction Editor for the March 2021 Issue
We believe in creating opportunity to explore the world of publishing, as well as inviting the contribution of those who believe in our mission of offering a safe and supportive community for creatives.
When Joanne, a contributor to our December issue (Letters from Dead Artists) expressed an interest in editing, we extended an invitation to bring her on board for our next issue.
“I am honoured to have the opportunity to support the mission of Blank Spaces in giving voice to Canadian artists. Art is about transformation, often of hardship and struggle into something of beauty. That beauty is found as much in the process as much as in the art itself. I am thrilled to be part of the behind-the-scenes process of a supportive arts community that works hard to promote and elevate new, diverse, and authentic voices in Canada.”
Joanne Morrison’s work has appeared in The Globe and Mail, the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series, and Elephant Journal. During the Covid19 pandemic, she’s been using her downtime to finish a memoir titled, The Answer Project. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing from York University and lives in the Greater Toronto Area with her two sons and the world’s cutest cat.
We are excited to add a new voice to our team and look forward to putting together an issue that is better than ever!
