Zeba Crook was born in Montreal and given an Iranian woman’s name by his hippie mother. His boyhood included three years squatting in an abandoned log-mansion from the gold-rush days in the Shuswap Lake region of British Columbia. A first career on the Canadian National Track and Field Team took him around the world, and to university, which led to a second career in academia. He is now a Full Professor of Religious Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa.
