Helen Robertson
Helen Robertson, poet
Witch, bitch, and full-time disaster, Helen Robertson is a trans, bisexual, genderqueer woman moving through the lifelong process of accepting how lucky they've been; using poetry to excise her ire and sorrow—hopefully turning it into something worthwhile. They have been published in Canadian and American online and print journals including, Poet Lore, The Fiddlehead, and This Magazine. Her debut chapbook “body of stone” is available to read online via The Blasted Tree’s website. They were longlisted for the 2019 Vallum Award for Poetry. She is I of the poetry collective VII.
The Ulterior Purpose of Colour — Volume 9, Issue 2
Through two poems of the same name, The Ulterior Purpose of Colour, Helen Robertson critically examines systems of control through distinctly different poetic approaches: one through visceral imagery and emotional confrontation, the other through philosophical questioning and structural deconstruction.
