Anna Baines
Anna Baines, poet
Anna Baines was born and raised in Calgary, AB where she currently resides with her fiancé, their dog and their cat. She has been writing poetry for most of her life, using writing as both an emotional outlet and a way to seek out hidden meaning in mundane surroundings. Anna is passionate about mental health, having completed a Bachelor’s of Arts in psychology at the University of Calgary. Mental illness and wellness are prevalent themes in much of her poetry. She also enjoys hiking in the Rocky Mountains and finds inspiration in the quiet reprieve of nature. This is her first poetry submission.
No Art, No Art Pt.2: Neighbours— Volume 3, Issue 4
In No Art and No Art pt 2: Neighbours, Anna Baines uses poetry to explore feelings of isolation that come with depression and addiction, arguing that art can only be created purely from a place of health. Through her pieces we witness an artist move past the weight of their illness and into a space where they can leave those shadows behind, moving on to make new art.
